Barack And Michelle Obama Celebrate 25th Wedding Anniversary

Former First Lady Michelle Obama called her husband, former president Barack Obama, “the most extraordinary man I know” as they celebrate a quarter-century of marriage Tuesday.

The Obamas married in Chicago on October 3, 1992. Michelle Obama shared a message for her spouse on her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Tuesday:

The 53-year-old former FLOTUS recalled in a 2008 interview the night Obama, 56, proposed to her at a Chicago restaurant in 1991.

After debating throughout their relationship whether marriage “was necessary,” Michelle Obama told The New Yorker: “And he got me into one of these discussions again, where, you know, he sort of just led me down there and got fired up and it’s like you’ve got blah blah blah blah, and then dessert comes out, the tray comes out, and there’s a ring!”

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also jumped on the Obamas’ big occasion, asking in an email for supporters to make Michelle Obama’s day “extra special” by signing a virtual anniversary card.

Congratulation Mr, and Mrs. Obama! You are truly missed in the White House.
